Podcast #105 – Growing Fall Vegetables in Alabama

We love growing vegetables in the fall in Alabama, and we’re a little mystified that more gardeners don’t join us.

It’s more pleasant to be outside in the fall, there are fewer problems with bugs and weeds, you just can’t beat the taste of fresh vegetables in the wintertime, and every serving of fall veg is a serving we don’t have to can or freeze during the summer.

Listen – 21:06

Here are the fall vegetables growing on Row 9 of Veg Hill. The yellow flowers are from the sunn hemp on row 10 (to your right), and the jungle of green on your left is from the green beans on Row 8. The hoops are in place for row cover, but we haven’t deployed the row cover yet.
