Podcast #137 – General Update

Not much creativity in the title of this week’s podcast, but it’s time for us to talk soup to nuts about what’s growing here at Longleaf Breeze. We talk blueberries, blackberries, persimmons, figs, muscadines, apples, pears, and even olives. Then we go to Veg Hill and reflect on tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, beans, peas, and cucumbers. So much to talk about, and so much to look forward to!

Listen– 22:50

I held up my tube of lip balm next to two of the Kiowas to give you an idea of their size. Neither of these is ripe yet, by the way. Too shiny!

This is one of four persimmons growing in the orchard, our first! I was wrong in the podcast, by the way. These are fuyus, not wase fuyus.

Five olives growing on the arbequina.

We have too many tomatoes to put cages around all of them, so we use a PVC trellis system instead.

All the beans you see growing here are volunteers that came back from seed they dropped on their own. We may not need to plant any new. Wouldn't that be funky!
