It’s the time of the year when we all want to get an early start with the spring garden, and we’re no exception. For us, that means starting seed. We depend on a heat mat and a grow light to give our seedlings the heat and light they need in their early development. The program this week includes lots of tips we’ve learned along the way, mostly from doing it the wrong way first!

The grow light and heat mat are set up in the shop. After last night, they’re suspended by ropes and pulleys so we can change the height while standing on the floor. I apologize for the mess; it’s a busy room!
