Podcast #112 – Farming in a Hotter World 1

We’ve failed. All the efforts to avert catastrophic climate change have been defeated by The Powers That Be, and we humans are in for a period of devastation and turmoil the likes of which our species has never faced.

As farmers, we can see with our own eyes the effect of global warming in the form of hotter summers, fewer gentle soaking rains, changing crop dates, and a succession of unprecedented weather events. We have no choice but to learn to cope, and cope we shall. In this week’s program we discuss trellising the orchard, the role of drip irrigation, planting longleaf pines, saving seed, and converting to an “all-season” growing plan.
