We started using our old driveway almost by default, simply by following an old logging road. Not any more.
The old driveway traveled up a too-steep incline, took a hard left, then down a gentle slope to the lodge. Thanks to Rodney Griffith’s savvy and imagination, we now have a shorter, nearly flat entrance that should be far easier to maintain as we navigate our coming life without fossil fuels. We’re still trying to decide what to do to firm it up so that it’s drivable even after a heavy rain. We’re considering asphalt, but we also may opt for a covering of #4 stone.
