Podcast #181 – Spring Update

The title’s nothing to write home about, but we think what’s going on at Longleaf Breeze these days is pretty cool. There’s always excitement in the air when you’re transitioning from one season to another, and never more than when the transition is from fall veg (really fall, winter, and early spring veg) to the summer garden.

In today’s program we talk about garlic, cover crops, strawberries, new raised beds, spring peas, asparagus, seedlings, trellises, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, golden kiwi, blueberries, plums, peaches, and pears. Like I said, lots going on these days.

Listen – 20:43

This shot shows the ripe berries, the green berries coming along, and the blossoms poised to set fruit soon, all right together for your viewing pleasure.

I love this shot. Not only does it feature the love of my life; it also illustrates the transition process. We're letting the collards in the background and the lettuce in the foreground go a few more days, but Farmer Borden isn't letting that keep her from planting her summer crop of tomatoes and marigold alongside them.
